Discovering Spanish Gems

What’s not to love about Spain? This fabulous holiday hotspot has got something for everyone. Madrid and Valencia is prime city break material. The Pyrenees makes a superb holiday for hiking and biking, or for plenty of winter fun on the slopes. Spain has got vineyards by the bucket load, lush photogenic valleys, gorgeous villages, and an eclectic range of festivals celebrating its local customs and traditions.

And then there’s the beach. Let’s face it, that’s why so many sun-starved Brits make their way to Spain every summer – and who can blame them? Whether you opt for the golden coast of the Costa Blanca or plump for the upmarket resort of Costa de la Luz, there’s a wonderful range of holiday experiences on the Spanish coast. The entire country is filled with culture but we’ll discuss some gems along the coast.

The Balearic Islands, marooned off Spain’s Mediterranean coast, provides the ultimate summer holiday. From Menorca family holidays and clubbing holidays in Ibiza, to city breaks and relaxing retreats in Majorca, there’s a little bit of something for everyone in the beautiful Balearic Islands. This is one area that doesn’t get enough attention, when we say it has something for everyone, we’re not joking. Give it a look as it’s fun for the whole family, whatever you’re interested in.

And did you know that the Canary Islands – a sun-baked archipelago located just off the west African coast – are also part of Spain? These fascinating islands are as diverse as they come, and thanks to their fiery volcanic past they also guarantee plenty of spectacular scenery too. Visiting these islands is like visiting another world. Isolated yet influenced by Africa and Europe.

Take Tenerife holidays for instance. Contrary to popular opinion, it’s not all clubbing and sun-bathing. Head into the island’s centre and you’ll find a sprawling national park that’s home to a dormant volcano – MtTeide – which is also the highest peak in Spain. Drive around and enjoy Alpine-like scenery one minute, followed by bizarre rock formations and lava fields the next. Talk about diverse!

Whatever type of holiday tickles your fancy, you’ll find it all in these wonderful Spanish gems…
